Likewise, if you are wanting to see a photo of something specific like an aftermarket JK part or poser shot with a specific setup, this is the place to ask for it.

I originally had a supercharger on my 3.8 and it was not the answer. I went to a 5.7 hemi swap and I'm very satisfied. I get 12-13mpg with 37's and 5:13s.

What are thoughts of a motor swaps?

What works?

What else would have to be updated/modded to be compatible.

What is economically feasible? (I don't have bottomless pockets)
Get with HESCO, it's a company working on a stroker kit for the 3.8, they make the entire engine for you. Not sure what the price of an entire engine built would cost but the stroker kit is about $3800.00. Check out their website at w ww.hesco.us for more detail. They claim to put out the same or more torque then a supercharger on your engine.

I know a guy here in Michigan that will build a plug n play wiring harness for you for only a couple hundred bucks. After that it's a few adapters from AA and some exhaust work. I'd be willing to bet it could be done for under $4k all told, and you'd have as much power as the hemi, and a potential 20+mpg too.
I'm wondering why more people aren't doing this, if it's possible.

And to the op, if it were warranty work I'd take it.

It's entirely possible. My brother is currently putting an LS3 in his '08 JK, and had an LS1 in his 07 JK prior.

How bad is the DIY Hemi swap? I am seriously considering doing it. I have the garage and all the tools as soon as we get my buddy's Mustang engine back in (dumbass spun a bearing and fucked shit all up)

gonna need a build thread when he's done! I've been dreaming of putting a SMB in my Jeep for months. to physically fit in there is really not that much work. Novak's got what I need to put it in. the devil is in the details---accessories, fuel, and wiring.

I just got access to a 5.7 engine from an 04 Durango with 30,000 miles on it and was wondering if it would work in my JK or how hard would it be with it not being from an 07 or above engine for conversion. I still have to find a tranny, wiring harness, PCM and whatever else I need but I was wondering if it could be done?
