That is a very nice axle going on a very nice and capable looking Jeep. What is Mr A's using for a front axle and what type of lift in the rear?

Nice job ORE!!!

I'm guessing it still has a 44 up front as the lug pattern is 5 on 5".

He has a rubicon front 44, with a single Evo lever set up

What Dynatrac said, he's matching the front 44's 5x5 bolt pattern.

So what would be the advantage of running 8 lug bolt pattern other than wheel choice? Seems a bit of an overkill doesn't it? Pulling a boat trailer?

8 lug provides a full floating (FF) rear axle although we can also do FF in other lug patterns. A full floating axle handles the weight of a heavy JK much better as none of the vehicle weight is riding on the shaft. The weight instead rides on a very heavy duty spindle. 8 lug also helps spread the load on lug nuts. Each stud carries less weight and there is less chance of failure. We don't see many lugs stud failures but its happened on some obese JKs.

So if one were only able to buy one axle at a time is the the preferred way to go about it - rear first then front? If so curious why? Thanks.

Nice looking rig Mr. A
