Moby Dick Getting Ready for Show Season
October is here and that means it's time to give Moby Dick some time off and get him ready for the Shows. First up will be the Off Road Expo which takes place next weekend in Pomona, CA and of course, there's SEMA which takes place during the first week of November in Las Vegas, NV. After a long hard summer of wheeling, Moby has been left in serious need of some TLC and, this thread will highlight his journey back to good health
Wrapping up the summer, we headed out to Colorado with Off Road Evolution to attend the 2011 JK Experience Rocky Mountain Run and, one of the trails we ran was the infamous, Carnage Canyon. And, as it's name suggests, it left it's mark on Moby....
Billings Canyon took out our custom rear sway bar....
And, a combination of all the trails we ran over the summer including Fordyce Creek (which we ran 3 days after getting back from Colorado) took its toll on our Spyderlock rings which got significantly bent and bent our rear axle shaft flanges as well...
So, the first stop for Moby would be over to the body shop where he would get some of his blemishes removed...
Ultimately, it was decided that a new quarter panel would be needed so that a piece of it could be sectioned in to provide the best repair...
Here's another shot of it with the B-Pillar which had been pulled back out and cleaned up...
Moby getting masked off and ready for paint...
After more than 2 years of beating them to no end, we decided to retire our old Spyderlock bead lock rings and replace them with a set of new of ATX Slab rings...
On Monday, we're hoping to pick Moby up from the body shop and take him to Off Road Evolution where we will be making the long overdue upgrade to a full float Dynatrac ProRock 60 and have a few minor wounds addressed. And, before the week is up, we should have a new set of 40x15.50 Toyo MT's ready for install as well. So, please stay tuned as we post up more updates as they come.

more like, we have to make some kind of repair a couple of times a year but, this is only the 2nd time we've had to do body repair. all the other times have been things like broken axles, drive shafts, etc. the malls out here are really hard on a jeep

Was wondering when you would swap in a full float setup. Driving home with a bent flange must of made for some interesting vibrations.
Shop did a really nice job on the door jam area there.

regarding fenders, i think we're gonna stick with chopped factory fenders. i like the look of steel tube fenders but, have seen them do more harm than good to the body. over the years, we've mashed, trashed and torn off our chopped factory flares only to snap them back in place and go and without doing any damage to the body. for the amount of trail time moby sees, i think they're the best bet for us.

I like how you actually take the time to fix everything that needs fixed. Makes me happy to see other people that although wheel their Jeep, they don't beat it senseless. It just shows that your Jeep is Used but not ABused.
Looks great.
Also glad to hear your getting new meats for those ATX rings. looking at the previous pics, your Toyo's are chunked really bad and beat up, granted they've taken you everywhere.
