I was there in 2003 right before the war, then we transferred over to Iraq. But I remember those storms very clearly. I used to try to take pictures because I knew no one would belive me but they never really caught the effect of it like your pictures do.

Guess I didnt really answer your first question. I was in camp Arifjan (not sure the correct spelling). Then we moved over to a staging area closer to the border, and we were there for about a month. I cant remember the name of it.

My brother has mobile shops in the camps, and hes mostly in camp arifjan. cool hehe. Did you go outside the camps? because now i heard the soldiers arn't allowed to go out of the camps. y i don't know. to bad your not here now we would go cruising in the jk's hehe.

Yeah its crazy plus in additio too that in the sand there is a mini sort of tornado called "aafoor", its offcourse nothing compared to the real ones but it shakes your car and in my case it shool my jeep so bad i was really afraid i would have some major damage. 3 people died in a 15min-20min storm. and many many injured

i remember those, i was at Ali Aselem AFB for 6 months in 03, out of nowhere boom there it was. man dust throughout everything, places you didnt know you could get sand and dust in.

Yeah the problem is when your driving about 120km/hr and it hits you face on, that happened to my fathers old mercedes, and in this 30secs he lost his front lights, windsheild and some of the paint, because it was literly beach sand or desert blowind very fast at you. I would hate myself if that happened to my jeep.
