Default King of the snow hill

November near Jackson Hole, WY. It was great fun climbing the hills in the early snow. Can't wait until a real snow covers everything.

Awwwww shucks! Thank you for your kind words. Everyone has been so kind to me here. You all realize you are creating a photo "monster" out of me. Can't wait to get some real good snow pictures but we have been in a drought situation for years and so far Mother Nature seems to have forgotten us. The end of January every year the pre-Iditarod Dog Sled Race is held here. It starts at the center of town and goes right past our house in the evening after dark. (See last year's photo below). Usually the snow banks from street plows is up to my head in front of our house. The past few years the city has used our small snow banks and trucked in snow to spread on the streets for the sleds to run. Don't get me wrong, the nearby mountains get lots of snow but here in the valley we could use more. Oh well, at least the past few years we haven't spent all our free time shoveling the roof and driveway. We've had years when we've used our snowblower on the roof to remove snow. That is just too much snow for sure.

Many sled dog teams participate. It is an amazing sight. As they pass by it is almost silent. The only sound is the light "swish" of the sled and the sound of soft pads of dog feet on the snow. The dogs are silent and do not bark or whine. It is almost like being in a dream to witness it.
