Default Jk Towing

well i know there have been several post and people asking about how the new JK perform while towing a boat or trailer. well this weekend i was able to get out and take one of my buddies boats out.

First off i was a little nervous because i was not sure of the weight the JK can pull. the boat and tailer i pulled siad 6000 lb which i though was a little much but someone told me the jeep could pull it also long as the tounge wieght was not more that 800 pounds, which this tounge weight was 700 pounds.

There was not alot of power off the start, but once you were 50-60 plus it pulled fine. Also no problem pulling the boat up out of the sloped boat ramp either.
Here is a pic of the jeep loaded down

That is good to know. I thought the max tow for the JK was 3500 lbs.

Properly equipped JKs are rated at a max of 3500 lbs towing and 350 lbs tongue weight.

You can double tow weights for boats, because they are more aerodynamic.

Pulling my dad's 24 ft pontoon. Not sure about the weight but it pulled it pretty easily. Big hills slowed me down a little bit but it did just fine on level roads.

You have some big ones my friend!!!!

I pulled a loaded Mastercraft (6900lbs) with my 05 Hemi Grand Cherokee (rated @7300lbs) and I nearly pee'd myself a couple times.

I pull a 26ft. sled boat just about every weekend with no problems.. about 5600 lbs.. Properly equipted is the key phrase here... Would I pull that weight with the stock factory hitch... NO... And only with a brake controller.. Your crazy towing that much with no trailer brakes..
