My Jeep is a totally stock X (except mirror relocation and soft doors in the summer).
I have an average of 18.8 mpg on 51 fill-ups for 2010 (average price of $2.783 per gallon and $0.1474 per mile).
Lifetime (January 2009) I have an average of 18.7 mpg on 115 fill-ups. ($2.574/gal, $0.1373/mi).
I consider 18.8 mpg just fine. When you look at how much you save in a year between 18 and 30 mpg, you quickly find it isn't worth worrying about from a cost standpoint. I can understand worrying about range as the other guy posted.
I use MPG on my iPhone to track my fuel purchases.

I know you were asking about Jeep MPG, but that is what I am getting mine for. My DD is an F-350 SD Crew 4x4 with 33's. I get at best 10city/12hwy, when I have my trailer I get 6city/10hwy. Gas station owners salivate when I come up. 30 gallon tank costs a LOT

I was getting about 16 mpg with my F-250 CrewCab 4x4 shortbox with the 7.3 liter PowerStroke Diesel when it was my daily driver. Switched to Focus then to Wrangler when son started to drive. Stuck him with the Focus.

My 2010 Sahara Unlimited is mostly bone stock except for a 3/4 inch lift. 10K miles since new on Bridgestone tires. I drive 76 miles round trip to work, half highway, half rural roads. I haven't reset my MPG gauge since I bought it new in June. It's showing 19.4 MPG right now. That included an off-road trip near Wellsboro, PA and a trip to Watkins Glenn (3 laps on the speedway). However, I fear that number will go down when I install the BFG T/A KO's for winter driving.

yes i very much do care about my gas milage, i know jeep has always sucked for gas seeing that this is my 3rd jeep. big reasons i run km2s (very light tire) and stuck with 37 and not 40s like i wanted. im not going to cry when mods i want bring down my gas milage but if there are things i can do to keep it as high as possible i will, like running lighter tires and gears, programer.

Gas stations are a luxury that some of us must do without in the forms of off-roading that interest us. Therefore, gas mileage can, in fact, be very critical, even when carrying jerry cans. Reduced gas mileage is the primary reason I'm having a lot of angst over whether I will switch to 35s (from 33s) when I put new tires on next year.

Fuel Mileage
Since purchased (04/23/08) I have gotten 18.987 MPG average, driving an average of 124.8 miles per day (includes daily commute of 33 miles r/t, travel including camping trailer towing thru the Rockies several times) paying an average of $2.679 per gallon. Comes out to $0.141 per mile for fuel. Best tank was 22.546 and worst was 15.890 (towing over Vail Pass).
Overall operating costs (fuel, loan, maintenance, parts, insurance, tolls, etc) is $0.955 per mile driven.
BTW-The instrument cluster usually reads about 7% higher than reality.
