The building is the geologist's cabin at Anvil Spring. It is available for use to the public. We had it all to ourselves. We didn't end up spending the night, and are now kicking ourselves that we didn't. The trail in the distance is the one we went down after leaving the cabin on our way to Furnace Creek. We started at Ballarat, went up Goler Wash past Barker Ranch (hideout of Charles Manson), went over Mengel Pass, to this cabin and others, and on to Furnace Creek. Great trail, with much to see along the way. I'd been wanting to do it for several years. Now I can't wait to go back.

I bet.....I know the feeling. What's that Manson hideout like now, is it still abandoned and all run down, or has it always been?

A pic I ran across from this past fall when I was wondering around some logging trails near my place. It was like the forrest floor was on fire. The pic does not do it justice.

Here it is as it stands today. Someone caught it on fire a few years back, so this is all that remains. Luckily I had the opportunity to go up there in my previous JK while it was still in tact.

And here's one with the Jeep in it--me trying to be creative...
