I left the shield material in. I have also seen some when the material was taken out. Looks nicer out.
As far as heat. No additional heat in mine.
Actually better noice reducer than the carpet.
One of the best mods I have done. If I were to purhcase another jeep would have this done week one, mod one.
Had mine done with Line X Extra.
