hows everyone out there with canoe or kayaks straping them down?

the back is pritty stright forward off the tire carrier. bit is it better to take the front down to the bumper or off the hood footman loop.

Lets here how your doing it and see some pic to go with it.

This was my solution....I am sure there are some that don't agree with this method, but it is strapped down on the front and rear, as well as diagonal across the canoe. It is really not much different that putting it on a roof rack.

With a Hard Top, I would just use those foam things set it on the roof and strap it down. Have a tiedown on the sides, as well as at the bow and stern.
With a soft top or topless, you could use the foam blocks for the front (at the windshield) and then use a T-mount to a trailer hitch for back support. (By T-mount, I mean goes straight up from hitch, then a T brace on top to support the canoe). I've seen them, just not sure where.

The T-bars are cheap at Harbor Frieght. On mine I needed a hitch extension to get around the spare tire. I have since put a roof rack up on the hard top. You can mount any track rack on the hard top.
