Default Homemade Cell Phone Holder

I made this cell phone (HTC Incredible 2) holder for my 2011 JK out of a piece of sheet metal I had laying around my garage.
Cut it out with tin snips, drilled and filed it to fit my dash and phone belt clip holster that I already had (shape could be altered to fit any phone holster/clip).

Remove the insert in the grab handle (9mm allen bolt is not actually holding it in, it's just press fit)
That will uncover the bolts holding the grab handle.

Remove the 2 - 5/16" hex bolts holding the grab handle.
Remove the handle to expose the mounting hole (large uneven hole)

The shape of the bracket that goes around the grab handle mount was a little difficult to get right (several test fits)
I made the shape of the clip mount part to fit my clip and bent it by hand to get the right angle and painted it black (paint wasn't quite dry).

Bolted it all back together and it works perfect. It's real handy when using the phones navigation app.

I like it so much I bought another belt clip and I leave this one in the Jeep full time.

Definitely patent it. Don't think there's a mount like that for the 11/12s yet

Very similar idea to the bracketron attachments available from quadratec.

Yours is a custom creation, and a very ingenious one at that. Nice work!

Looks great! Is it out of the way of the airbag? or is there going to be a cellphone shaped mark on somebodies head?

Just asking, i thought about mounting my Ham mic mount similar to that but decided the Airbag was gunna take it out if it ever went off.

I'm not sure what shape it is when it deploys, but I think it will/may clear the air bag.
