Hitch-mounted BBQ pit
Has anyone fabbed up a hitch-mounted BBQ pit for their JK...or any other vehicle for that matter? I am toying with the idea of a trailer BBQ pit but the idea of having a smaller hitch-mounted grill came to mind. Ideas/pics/plans would be most appreciated. I don't want to make something that weighs 300 pounds unless it is on a trailer.

Yeah something like that but it would need to extend out a pretty good bit from the hitch to prevent cooking your spare tire. This is why I was wondering if anyone else had done something like I want.
Maybe putting the thing on a small trailer would be the best idea after all. I want a pit I can use out in the woods with the family on camping trips, etc...and maybe even for tailgating at LSU home football games if I can ever manage to get all of us there at once.

Been looking around on the web and have just about decided to get an old utility trailer and build a BBQ pit on top of it. LOTS of possibilities there. The pics I have seen don't show a lot of detail but some of those things go for LOTS of ca$h. I figure I could get a trailer for well under $1000 and use that as a base for something made out of an old rural propane tank and some other pieces parts.

I got one!!
My dad and I built it. It's not huge, but it works well for tailgating. My dad has a bad habit of building things to last. This is made from 1/4" drill pipe. It's HEAVY!! Basically, the grill is welded to a piece of a receiver tube that slides onto 2x2 square tube in an L shape that slides into a receiver hitch we installed onto my M416. I can use it on the back of the Jeep or anything with a 2" receiver hitch.
