I'm researching hemi's and wondering if anyone has input on which one they have had the least amount of hassle with after install and driving for a while. Do you have a preference?

5.7, 6.1, 6.4, 7.0, 7.2 (automatics)

thanks a lot

I been looking to get a hemi and so far is the 5.7 Hemi since i know need the crazy power of anything bigger that a 5.7 since it can be upgrade to mach H/T power of a 6.1 and anything bigger that 6.1 is just a waste of money and power.

I have talked with two guys who had the 5.7 installed and they recommended going with the 6.1 for the extra power.

I had a long talk with an installer of these motors and he said the 6.1s like more RPM and isn't as torquey (is that a word?). I've got a 5.7 and it is plenty. I have 4.88s and 37's but my rig is much lighter than a JK. I also just got a Diablo Sport tuner which is supposed to really wake it up. I should be able to get it all dialed in very soon.

Mine was done in Montana. The most recent install I had done was in NorCal (Jeep Speed Shop).

So what would be the better route for more power than a 5.7? Going with a 6.1 or above or adding a supercharger to the 5.7?

I would go with a SC but is there room? Early versions of the 5.7 don't have a bottom end that will hold up to a SC. I'm told later versions are much better.

The 5.7s are said to really wake up when used with a tuner. I'm anxious to see what mine does when I get it dialed in.

I thought the 6.1's were just a stroked 5.7, which usually makes them even torquier (wonder how many versions on torque we can come up with)

I would personally just go for your price range, and if its not enough power add a few bolt ons. Though most get use to the power and always wanting more

My mate has a 6.1 ute and i'm pretty satisfied with the amount of power that thing dishes out.

A good add on for a auto is to get a high stall torque converter, basically starts the revs in the sweet spot all the time and doesn't get that laggish feeling that people think it can only be fixed with a bigger engine.
