Guys Im not much of an expert on this , so id like some info..

First what are the main and basic changes you need to do in the JK when you replace the JK engine with a 6.1 L?

Second does it have to be an automatic or can i have it as a manual

if yes, can the stock 6 speed handle the power?

Thanks alot guys

I highly doubt the stock stick trans can handle a hemi.

Can I ask what a full conversion cost? If you have a auto do they use that one or another one?

Default AEV working on a manual kit

Dan from Burnsville Offroad has done a manual with a 5.7.

AEV is working on a manual kit right now but I am not sure if it is for both the 5.7 and 6.1. . . . . . .

forum.aev-conversions.com

Go to the JK conversion section

If you go to the 6.1 auto then the only option for an auto is the 5-45RFE or you can wait as AEV is working on a auto tran’s conversion for the A580 which comes with the 6.1 SRT8 vehicles.

On AEV site they break out the expenses . . . . .

AEV kit $5,250 add $1k for coated exhaust system

Figure $7-8K for a 6.1 and auto trans $3K (can be cheaper or more $$)

Out of the Kit expenses approx $2K . . . listed on AEV site with part number and can be had for less on JK vendor sites

Manual to Auto conversion kit $1,200 . . . . .all told approx $18-20K in parts. I would bet you would not risk a salvage engine and tranny given your location.

You can put it all together cheaper but it will take some research and time.

The 5-45RFE trans is the only one available with the 6.1 for now and a few people have reported a flat spot with it . . .it prob is fine and has been pretty durable so far . . .the A580 will be more factory like as it is the intended trans with better gearing suited for the 6.1.

It really depends on your time table. I may go with the Ripp SC for now and wait to see what the manual options are later down the road and sell the blower . . given your location that is prob not an option for you.

If you are set on the manual . . . . the 5.7 really should be fine and if you are set on a 6.1 manual it should be an option before too long . . . .

Good Luck and don't give up on the hemi manual

I did the manual to auto with the AEV kit. That addtional cost is about $120.00 not $1,200.00 The only thing different is a single wire you have to add in that AEV provides, the shifter sled and a coulple cables.
