The sheer fact that you have to ask means it can't be explained to you. There are many reasons, different for different people. And Canada? Ya, nuff said. Having now spent time out of US (as a civilian), I can see why people don't understand. But get down in the durrty durrty and see how it goes.

My pistol is in it's holster and fits right in between the emergency brake and console area. With the width of the holster it fits in there nice and snug. I lock it in the center console at work (loads of cameras in our lot and security so I dont worry). It never stays in the Jeep overnight.
