I've got a roll of black plasic gutter guard already......
I'm gonna try it...If it looks like hell, then no big deal.

Yeah I hear you. Maybe I'd like black a little more.

Excellent!

Mine looks just like that.
All I did tho was buy the sheet of that diamond pattern stuff at Home Depot for like 4 bucks?and cut a section to fit behind the entire grill panal.

The width of the sheet is just a bit wider than the openings in the grill from side to side.
When I saw that I decided to try what I tried, and having tried what I tried I am now staying with what I tried as it works very well and I am lazy as hell really.

I rolled it up at top and bottom having kept the hieght long enough to do that. making it double thick and NOT flattening it.
Then I simply placed it between the grill and radiator.
Replacing the grill kinda squished it at top and bottom to act as a retainer and there she sits.
Visually it looks the same as yours does.
Close inspection would show its not as tight but it serves to protect the radiator from small stones etc.

This is the LAZY MAN method and not recomended for re-distribution, sale, or other liability issue type situations...
LOL

Again nice mod dude.

Very neat work and I commend you on a job very well done.

theres a whole write up on this thats been goin on for over a yr, why the new thread. $21 is a litlle much for that mod too... how about $3 for a sheet of plastic from Mcmaster, its black .. i had it black and got another piece and painted still less.. If you get 3ft of the plastic you get 2 pieces out of it. $21 still cheap for a mod that makes such a difference. If anyone needs info on where to get it PM me

This is a great mod.It did cost $21 just like it says. Took about an hour once I got the grill off. and for another $3.50 for a couple more pieces o aluminium you have enough stuff to do 2 grills

Looks very nice, imo. I am wanting to try this but since my jeep is completely blacked out, i am a little hesitant to use the chrome, so i think im going to try spraying it black before i put it in. Is there anyway you could post a pick of it from a bit further away so i can see the whole view of the jeep with it, to see how it all blends?

Anyway looks great either way, thanks in advanced...
