Default Goodyear MT/R 285/70/17 Clearance Issue

Brand new Goodyear MT/R 285/70/17 on stock 17" rims. They do rub on stab bar at full turn. Not sure what the easiest fix is. Interference is very small like 1/4".

Other than that, they look really cool on my 2007 X.

Looks good! I've got a 07 Unlimited X also and looking and putting on 285s also.
you could always throw on some spidertrax spacers.

Default The rub

OK, it was fun driving on my new shoes, but the rub is annoying. Even though you have to turn the wheel all the way to the stops to get it to rub, it is still annoying especially for the wife and young driver. Does anyone know if 3mm to 6mm spacers will fix it? Is it even wise to entertain that idea? Where would I find thin spacers to try?

Thanks.

The only way you're going to fix that rubbing issue is to fun spacers like the ones mentioned above or run rims with less back spacing.

Spacers would be the easiest solution unless you are in the market for new rims. I actually went with new rims, with a 4.5BS, when I got the same size tire (DuraTracs) and I only rub a very tiny bit when going in reverse at full turn on a little bit of a slope. I think it is hitting the air damn a little but it isn't really an issue since I don't rub at any other time.

You could also adjust your steering stops. I think there is a write up, look in write up section. You also could get some wheel with better backspacing or spacers. You can get steel wheels for like 70 a piece or good spacers for like 200.

Just saw your comment about "thin spacers". DO NOT RUN THESE, THEY ARE DANGEROUS.

Default Selling my spidertrax spacers -2pairs (4 pcs) $160 -shipped

Used for about 6 moths then I upgraded to wheels with backspacing. Condition is excellent, see pic for everything included. These spacers will make your stock wheels look good!

If you're local you can pick them up, otherwise paypal $170 and I'll ship for free (in US only).

Shim your steering stops per the instructions here: steer-stop-adjustment, or buy and install spacers (around $200 for all four corners). Make sure you use the threadlocker compound and a torque wrench.
