For the past 2 years I've been taking the kids in the jeeps we've owned with the top off doors off. When they were younger I stayed closer to home and on the back roads. They are alittle older now and we can venture off further. Wife feels safer now than a few years ago when I first tried the idea. The kids love it. It's put my daughter to sleep sometimes which I still can't figure out.
