His profile says 38" tires. That'd be a good start.

5:38 gears. It had been making a whining noise for a long time. I thought for sure it was the tranny and was going to drive it till it breaks. Well it broke and it wasn't the tranny?

I've seen a few broken teeth on ring gears before but nothing chewed up like this! when did you have the gears done? Almost looks like they were not set up properly and over time just ate away at the teeth as opposed to an instant breakage.

Yep.....smaller gears, big tires, and maybe a little too heavy on the pedal for awhile....

I have had the noise long before I went to 38" tires. I used to have 35" tires.

It always sucks when something breaks, but on the plus side it is a perfect opportunity for an upgrade.
