Why not a 2.8 CRD conversion the engine that is available in the JK for EU, at least this engine can fit the JK (I have one) give you 25 MPG 177 HP and 46 Kg/m (332 lb-ft) with an 545RFE transmission or 6 speed (but in this case I don't know if this is the same gear box as the v6 US).

Oh, and as for diesels, what about a 4BT? It should fit. The dimentions are not much different than a 4.0, and the JK's engine compartment was originally designed with the 4.0 in mind. So it should fit. Although the D30 would never handle the weight. It would need a real D44HD, or D60.

forget the propane ,stick with 3.0L CRD that WORK'S (!!!) in grand cherokee

The 3.0 would be cool. I love diesels.

I have many diesel performance shops within our dealer network. I will put out a few calls and see if I can get some info / pricing on getting this done.

actually the 3.0L CRD in jk wrangler - it's been done , something ()stand's in the way of having diesel in wrangler...
