I remember reading that they have to detune the diesel for the 6 speed, I think it's limited to around 300 ft-lbs of torque, where as the auto gets the full 325 ft-lbs.

What's involved in a swap like that? Do you have to replace the transmission, or will the CRD work with the stock transmission? What about programming? Is there code available already for other applications that you could use for this swap, or would you have to build your own program specifically for this application?

Edumucate me, please, because I've been thinking of a swap like this, but need to understand what's involved.

Unfortunatly, we will not be putting this motor into a Jk. Too many unknowns! We also measured the frame rails, the a/c and alt. would hit the sides. So, hopefully if we ever get around to build my Warthog buggy, it will go in it. So sorry

That is sad. Are you thinking about any other diesels for swap? What about the liberty 2.8 diesel?

Am I alone in not thinking that is really a jeep since it has a pickup truck drive train and frame? Maybe I am too rigid but I was kind of disappointed to read that. It is still a cool build but just doesn't seem like a Jeep to me.
