Flowmaster 40 Series Sound Clip
Had a Flowmaster 40 Series installed a couple weeks ago, so I made a little video for all who may be interested in what it sounds like. It sounds a little better in person, but that's to be expected I guess....

So far I like it, not too loud but loud enough to make a difference...has a much deeper tone inside while driving than it does outside. No "performance gains" to speak of that I've noticed...but none were expected. Mileage seems to have improved slightly though, which is a cool side benefit.

lol, yeah i kinda figured it would too....but i've been pretty easy on it so far. plus, it actually sounds best at or under 2,000 rpm, so that's where I've been trying to keep it at...which helps probably.

not in person, but i think i saw a video on youtube of a jk with one. i think the 50 would be even quieter, and the 40 is not too loud at all so i'm happy with it.....not to mention that there's about 17 catalytic converters on this thing so that cuts down on the noise quite a bit!

The install looks really clean. It's not really clear in the pics, but that muffler does have Flowmaster stamped into it doesn't it?
Edit: The reason I ask is because when I got my "flowmaster 40 series" installed they charged me for the real part and installed a cheap knockoff, that is shaped just like the real thing.

Notice a difference? Any real Flowmaster muffler will have Flowmaster stamped into the steel. If it doesn't have it, it's a bogus part. I was informed that it's a very common practice by Alex Ortega from Flowmaster. I called to verify that in fact ALL Flowmaster mufflers are stamped. They are. Your pic isn't quite clear enough to tell if the stamping is there, but for anyone else interested in the 40 series (love mine) make sure you get the real thing.
