Default It Is Finished (For Now)

Picked it up yesterday from Northridge 4X4. David had it a few days and handed it back to me better than I left it! Below is a 08 Rubicon ordered by me last March and finally purchased in September (long story, stoopid stealerships!).

It is now outfitted with:

Clayton 4.5
OME shocks, long travel
American Racing Baja wheels 16X8 w/ 4.5in b.s., powder coated RAL 7034
Cepek FC II 315/75R16
Rock Hard skid plate
1350 J.E. Reel drivelines

It drives very well. The front end seems a little light and it might need some fine tuning in the next few weeks or so. The ride is very good too, but a little firmer than I had expected. There has been NO ESP activation at all. There is a little vibration, most likely from the catalytic converter touching the skid plate, its more of a sound really. A little road hum from the tires, but going from 32's to 35's it is to be expected. There is no rubbing at full turn either, but I have not been off-road to see it at full flex. The tires with 4.10 gears is MUCH better than I expected, barely noticeable, but then I have the 6 speed too. I only have about 100 miles so far, and I'm sure once things settle it will be even better than it is now.

I have both front and rear bumpers/tire carrier being built by a local iron shop, they should be done pretty soon and I'll post pics of those too.

Let me know what you think!

-Derek

Default Looks Good!

are you going with a Willys/Army theme with the wheel color choice?

Actually, I tried to match the lighter khaki color of the interior, on the paint chip it was pretty close, but on the wheel the color is lighter. I'm still happy with it though. Not really going for a theme, just didn't want to do either black/chrome or some combo of the two.

The color of the rims is awesome.
I would go with flat black lug nuts however, I think that would look better.

Good to hear 4.10s and 35's is a good combo. Will probably upgrade to that from my 3.21's. :(

Thanks for the kind words, I'm happy with how it turned out too. I though about the lug nuts but figured the paint would get scuffed off at the first tire rotation anyway. I did rattle can the center hubs after the picks were taken, Krylon sand color was kinda close and will help protect the metal.

At first glance I was kind of like WTF with the wheels but the more I look at them the more I'm digging them they're pretty sharp dude.

Nice color on the jeep (I'm biased), but the wheels.... well, OK, I like em. It took a few seconds to grow on me...
