and finally, my hard top hoist

A real great find!
I had wondered about bowing and what not as well...think I will try and rig something up with my brother--in-law where we could lay some insulated pipes across the underside of the top...that should help alleviate any bowing. what do yuse think?

Interesting Idea
I wonder if you could mount something like this onto a wood frame, and then attach the wood frame to box rails (similar to what MountainRubi did here: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...te-up/page26)?
That way you could life the top straight off the jeep and then slide it left or right on the rails out of the way?

I think I may be inspired to build something for my hard top now. Wow it is a lot easier than i thought it would be. My garage isn't as tall as some but I think i can squeeze my jeep in just enough to lift the top off

Probably hard to explain and tell from the picture, but I have a small garage with only 8.5' ceilings. When you walk into the garage there is an area to the left for storage/workbench etc.
What I'd like to be able to do is back up the jeep into the garage, use the lift to take the top off and then use the tracks to slide the lift and the top to the left (into my workshop area) so that I could still pull my jeep in.
Does that make sense? I'll try to do a stick diagram...

I have one of these that I bought at Sears. Works great on my 4 door. Best part is that you can use your cordless drill to crank it up! Oh, and a drill has enough power to rip the wire harness out of the top... FYI...

Height
Just wondering what the height from the ceiling to bottom of the top.
I may consider this, but I would want to add a platform below it if I went this route.
Thanks!
