Got sick of my tailgate closing when sitting off camber out in the woods. Bought the small size rubber mallet at Harbor Freight for $1.99 and took off the handle.
Keep it in the back and just stick it in the slot when I open the door.
Dumb, stupid, simple little thing that Jeep should have fixed originally with a locking pin or something.

Good idea for a wedge; but, why take the handle off? Now it only has one use. Leave the handle on and it can be used as a mallet, a drift, firewood if need be or even a no batteries needed toy for the missus.

Yeah, you're right. I'm actually thinking of drilling a hole through it and hooking it to the roll bar or seeing if the wire wrap in front of it in the picture will go through it. That way I can't lose it. I also don't always have my tool bag with me but this will stay in the jeep permanently.
