Its nice to have some more power than the stock 3.8 engine has.... Especially if your jeep has big tires and a ton of armor.... More power is welcome.... But drag racing a JK is just out of place. If i liked drag races i would have bought a "car" not a JK.

I'll stick with my 08 and the money I save from not upgrading to a 12 will more than cover a supercharger. it's much cooler to say "its supercharged" than say "it's a 3.6" lol

Again, another faulty 2011 vs 2012 comparison incorrectly attributed to the new engine. This was really a test of different rear end gear ratios, and the new 5 speed automatic transmission. Its pretty obvious now, that no one wants to make the only bona fide test, which is a 2011 manual versus a 2012 manual, with the same rear end ratios. Also, notice they quoted a 0-60 time of 8.4 seconds. And the drag race? I'd say, using the pace method, the 2012 was pulling away at about 5 mph faster. Not exactly breathtaking.
From Motortrend:
"The new engine offers excellent response and a noticeable improvement in power -- the Pentastar is significantly faster from a stop and when passing. Also, the engine sounds much more upscale than the coarse 3.8-liter, and the exhaust note is throatier. Paired with either transmission, it feels much more refined. Where the 3.8 feels pokey, the 3.6-liter actually makes the JK feel spry. Jeep estimates that the new engine reduces 0-60 times by 2-3 seconds with either transmission, and when we took a Wrangler Sport manual to the track, we confirmed this estimate. The new Jeep hit 60 mph in 6.7 seconds, while all of the 3.8-liter Wranglers took between 9.8 and 10.2 seconds."
From the spec box
Two door sport
285hp/260Tq
6 speed
3918lbs
0-60 in 6.7 sec
1/4 mile 15.2@89.1mph
60-0 braking in 135ft
17/21mpg
And that 0-60 of 6.7 was in a sport...without the gearing that you claim makes the 2012 rubi so superior in the video of the drag race.

Ever confidently merge onto a swift moving highway from a stop when the merge on lane becomes congested? How about a U turn on the highway? Ever try turning right off a red light onto a road that has a short break in the traffic? If you are in a Jeep with the 3.8, probably not. All these things require a decent 0-60. Prior to the current engine, the Jeep really struggled with these real world scenarios. No one is racing the 3.6 vs a vette, or bragging that it should spend time out on the race track. As it turns out, though, 0-60 numbers really do matter in real world situations. Especially when your 0-60 numbers are subpar...

I just hit the 3000 mile mark in my 2011 2 door sport i think im going to stick with the 3.8 and wait around and see how reliable the 3.6 is. The 3.8 is a proven OHV engine thats reliable and should last many years if taken care of. And if i wanted to drag race i would have kept the 405 hp mustang that i traded in on the jeep
it went from 0-60 in 4.5 sec.
