Are you guys actually getting the VVT to kick in and work? I figured with our brick inspired aerodynamics the VVT would never really cut off cylinders. Not that any of us put in the Hemi for fuel milage but is the VVT getting better mileage than a standard 5.7 in the JK? Got any real numbers?
AND, Yes you can fill it shift over
it's a little kick in the pants
As far as fuel #'s...it is better than the old 5.7 and 6.1 but every Jeep is different because of weight; gears; size of tires, however the last JK was a Rubi and when it was dropped off it was getting 14.8 and after the 5.7 VVT was put in during the test stage it went up to 14.9. Around town testing was getting 13.2 to 14.
All in All you do get the better fuel economy and when you need or
want it you get the power very close to the 6.1 I almost forgot, the 6.1L cost a little more and needs synthetic 0W-40 oil and the 5.7L just needs 5W-20

The VVT does not cut off the cylinders (that's MDS), the VVT will shift over the cam to open the valves to give the motor more horsepower
AND, Yes you can fill it shift over it's a little kick in the pants
