Custom Rear License Plate Carrier
So I was in need of a rather unique type of plate carrier since I always have my bike rack on my spare. I wanted to mount my plate in the center of the wheel, but none of the brackets I could buy would work because of my bike carrier. So, I set out and create a custom bracket using a few scrap aluminum parts and a spring hinge I bought from Home Depot. Let the pictures begin:
Final product:
Started with some scrap parts (The far left piece is angle scrap):
Some views of the whole things put together:
The spring hinge keeps the plate up, and if I need to unlock or remove my bike rack, I simply pull down the plate and insert the key. Next thing to do is figure out a nice way to install the light so it is visible at night. Not too worried about it right now though. What do you all think? Total price was $14.98 plus tax for the spring hinge.

Nice set up by the way. If I still had this rack I'd copy it in a second.

Got 35" duratracs and the yakima fits fine because as stated above, I got a longer post to mount the rack on a bigger tire. The rack doesn't rattle at all.
