Default Custom Basket for MBRP Roof Rack

After installing my MBRP roof rack (which I love), I waited patiently for them to bring a basket to market. When I found out their basket weighed in at a whopping 100lbs, I had to find an alternative since I can't fit the jeep in the garage with the basket attached. I needed something I could get on and off easily by myself. I had this basket custom fabricated out of aluminum. It's supper strong, and weighs in at 52 lbs. The downside is it cost $860 (ouch).

I'll probably keep it shiny for now. It doesn't look too bad in raw aluminum. I've heard powder coating will cost another couple of hundred, and I think I've spent enough on it. If I paint it, I think the paint will wear off when I tied stuff down on it.

Great looking basket! Sorry we were not able to complete our design in time to get you hooked up. We are in the process of building a lighter design that took approximately 30lbs off the original weight. We are right around 65lbs now...and tough as nails.

Keep up the good work! It's great to see what people can come up with using our rack as a base. Roof-top tent anyone?
