I sunk the entire rear end of my Jeep Commander in a creek a few months back while off roading. After I got winched out the engine started running like shit and the CEL came on. I checked the DTC codes and had a misfire on cylinder 7 along with a few lean codes (cant remember if it was bank 1 or 2). The first thing I did was check the spark plugs but they appeared to be fine. I swapped them out with new plugs anyways just to be on the safe side. I then swapped out the rear diff fluid and transfer case fluid, which both had crazy amounts of water in them. Finally I got to the gas tank and there was about a gallon of water in it. I disconnected the fuel line under the Jeep and used the fuel pump to pump all of the water out. This was the easiest way to go since water sinks to the bottom. I tried to dump a bottle of isopropyl in the tank a few days earlier but obviously it did nothing due to the large amount of water in the tank. After that the Commander ran fine. Well until I went to fill up the gas tank. I noticed that as soon as I opened the gas cap a crazy amount of air got sucked in. Also when I started to fill the tank the gas pump kept shuting off every few seconds as if the tank was full. After a few hours of messing with the jeep I found out the charcoal canister was totally full of water from when the rear end was submerged which in turn was causing those problems. I swapped it out with a new one and the jeep runs better then ever! Im not sure if this is your problem but its something to look into.

With the crazy $h!t you do with your JK, I'm shocked you don't have a case of spare idler pulleys on hand.
I've had to replace mine and I haven't been one-tenth the places you have.
Less than $20 at NAPA and you're good to go.

Ok.
As seafoam was 10, and heet was 2, I was stuck using the latter. We will see how it does.
I followed the odor, and attempted to identify it.
My best guess is burning mud in the exhaust.
It may be time to replace it. I will see what I can rig, since I can't quite afford to do what I planned in my exhaust thread.
As for the pulley, it might be easier to fork out the 20, then to mess with the dealer and the wait.
More good news...since I'm out of business, I was able to return 2 5gal drums if roofing tar. I couldn't get cash, but got lowes credit.
It got us Christmas lights for our tree and 7 cans of sprayliner (for my tub).
