No. The Wireless Control Module needs to be replaced to fix the SKIM issue.

what is the wireless control module? I know what the clockspring is... that part has gone bad on tons of JK's and was even on backorder a while cause of so many failures. I don't understand what is wrong with the shifter either? Isn't it an auto? Whats the deal there?

The WCM is the little transmitter in the steering column that reads the codes on our ignition keys. If the WCM isn't working, the engine will not stay running.

EDIT#1!

Hmm, I just wonder if it would be possible at all to bypass the WCM. I mean, in all honesty, it just isn't needed.

EDIT #2!

It does seem that there are bypass kits available, however, I don't know if they would help at all. Do a quick search of google for "Chrysler Sentry Bypass Kit".

I started a thread asking about that, but couldn't find a solution.
thank you.
everything Ive found just basically has you hide a key nearby so unchipped keys will work.
I never found a true bypass.

i don't know what the deal with the shifter is, but my o/d would not turn off. took it to the dealer and they replaced the whole shifter, not just the switch. these things are electric everything. sounds like you are gonna have to start with a wiring diagram and work your way through it from point a to z.

set up the pay-pal account and keep up with the donations. each donor can then come to Henderson and you can do some ink for them. it ain't charity if you pay it back and it ain't your fault if we never show up for repayment.

Good luck, been following this.
Yes, brilliant idea, draw attention to the fact that he drove it into a lake on purpose that he didn't know the depth of and I'm pretty sure the service manager won't care about anyone reading or posting to this thread, since apparently not a one of them was close enough to Crash to help clean up Tonka without a long drive.

However, the tub is empty...and will need seats to be street legal in Texas.
I would like for them not to be brown.

As far as priorities go, I figured seats would come before fenders and rails, which must also be replaced.
A/C, stereo already repaired and functional.
I had a busy weekend.
Was able to work on it Saturday and Sunday.
What's up with this from your other thread "Bedline Seats"? Is Tonka running??

it started and ran, then died.
did this several times.
We traced it to a key transponder issue.
I took it to the dealer yesterday to be reprogrammed.
they took out my console, found mud (duh) and quoted me 1100+ to replace WCM and clockspring in steering comlumn, and to replace all of the components in the shifter asssembly.
Not warranteed due to mud.
Its $80 to pick up the Jeep now, and get a typed diagnosis and estimate.
I am working on getting that money together.
When I get it back, I will disassemble and clean everything inside the console, then reassemble and install.
They are submitting the column issues to see if they can get them covered, since there is no water damage there.

i think that sums it up.
