Nice work! keep at it and you will be doing 45MPH with the windshield down befor your know it! that is a very early 45 tub because it has the axe and shiveal cut outs like on the MB (WWII JEEP). I wish I had the time and skill to take my tub off and reweld all the bad parts, but I dont think I can spend that kind of time away for driveing my Jeep!

this is my 44 MB

That's awesome. I wish I had the space to do a restoration. Skill might help too.

thanks dude, this is the first time i've ever tried this. i'm a welder/fabricator but i do heavy stuff. this jeep is the 1st sheet metal welding/fabing i've ever done.

also did more work on the floors today, (pics in album). i formed the drivers side into the trans tunnel and did a little more welding on it. i'm wating on a few pannels to come in so i can finish the pass side.

Looking @ the red tub reminds me of the jeep my grandfather used to have, post WWII era 52 or 54, believe it or not I learned to drive on one of them @ age 10! 3spd on the floor. Its been 24 years, but I do remember it would go anywhere, and if it got stuck a few old men (i was ten) could pick up the back fairly easily no need for a winch and God help anyone sitting in the jump seats, thats what my dad called them or was I just sitting on the wheel wells

I talked w/ my Dad today about the red jeep and apparently it was supposed to be tan but was mostly rustoleum red/rust he also reminded me that when I first drove it I was one of the few people that could put any weight on the floorboards without falling through.
I look forward to following this thread throughout the resto goodluck.
