Chopped my Rubi rails
So i got some Rubi rails from another jeeper who upgraded his to some aftermarket rails. they're great rails! 1/4" thick steel with some good heft to them. very basic rail but seems to be very sturdy. Anyhow, with my 35" tires and nothing but a 2" body lift, i soon heard some awful scraping as i took even the smallest of bumps ... the rails were so close to the tire that they would rub when the shock went down.
Rail off ... you can see the body is fairly close too.
So i decided to chop them. dropped the rails, took a porta-band and pulled the trigger ... while i was at it, i also chopped some of the body away since it would be sticking out and was close to the tire as well.
In process ...
Too late now! And now for the AFTER shots

there were plastic caps on the ends which i removed before i cut. i painted the bare metal after cutting and replaced the plastic end caps. just had to make sure i had a straight cut (not angled) so the caps would fit back in the right way
