Cargo Storage
Something I learned quickly about my Jeep's rear storage tray was that it was inaccessible when loaded down for camping. So, I decided I wanted deck with drawer to be able to access recovery gear or whatever I might need from storage. There are a few companies that build steel boxes for a reasonable price, but they take up the entire cargo area. Below was my solution. Not fancy or anything, but sturdy and does the job. Now that I have more room, I can start getting proper gear and keep it in there. All of the stuff pictured was in the tray and completely filled it. One thing I did learn is I hate painting with bed liner. Hard to touch up and seemed to set up very fast. I decided against trimming the plywood to follow the contour of the wheel wells to give water a place to flow if the top is off and it rains. It is currently sitting on double stick foam tape to keep it from bouncing too much, but I will work on a way to secure it will bolts. The deck is shaped well enough to keep it from moving much, it would just bounce when hitting bumps in the road.
