materials only set me back 8 bucks. 2 sawzall blades and 2 cut off wheels for my angle grinder. Theres a fabrication shop less that a mile from my house that lets me dig through their scrap. The main front of the bumper was already bent into a c shape. If you really take your time, though, you can make a weld that smooth with a grinder and some different grit wheels.
