I painted mine red over galvanize and it held up pretty good.

Probably time to repaint.

When I bought my bumpers they gave me 2 free sets of the Daystar isolators that slip over the d-ring to stop the rattle. I used them for all of 3 days before chucking them.

I think he was referring to rubber washers (hardware store in the plumbing section) that fit over the pin and rest on either side of the attachment point on the bumper.

You can get some Self-Etching primer from autozone or advanced auto parts to spray them first. Then use a color of your choice and you would be amazed at the durability. I sprayed mine white first and then changed them to black later after some wear.

I know what he was talking about and my point wasn't that the Daystar parts didn't work, is was that I didn't care about the clanking.

What about Plasti Dip that you dip tool handles and stuff in for a protective coating?
Anybody ever use that?

I've got those huge Tractor Supply ones, and I'd like to coat them if it'd be durable enough.

So I started on these last night and I must say the Rustoleum paint is great. Making them red this way allows me to touch them up as time goes on and they get abused.

Camera flash makes them look kind of orange but I used candy apple red gloss Rustoleum.

Before & after....

Installed before & after (much better for my Jeep than chrome)....
