Any JK Unit Bearing Issues with 37's and 40's
Guys and Gals
Have any of you hardcore wheelers running 37's or 40's had any unit bearing issues with the stock 44 unit bearings? Your inputs would be extremely appreciated.

From our experience and testing The front 44 is only safe /bullet proof with 35s
37s even on a BUILT 44 seem to last us a bought a year of wheeling
before axle shaft failure, ball joints, ring and pinions, again we do test and abuse.
This is not so much about the strenth of the unibering but the axle shafts size U joint size, Ball joints, ring and pinion size

Thank you for your input. We are having a 60 front axle built and they are building it to use the stock JK unit bearing, so failure of that part is our biggest concern!
If anyone else has some insight to this please let us know and as always, your input is appreciated.

We would change the outers, but then we would have to do a bolt pattern change in the rear as well! If the factory unit bearing holds up well, then there is not a big issue in our minds since the brakes feel good! This is a very good cost effective solution to building a 60.
A 60 with Longfield axles and the stock JK outers with a dual piston caliper should perform really well and be very cost effective. After all, Jeep owners are always looking for the best bang for the buck and we are no different in our builds!

Again it seems like a waste of money put into an axle that isn't much stronger than a factory 44. I mean you have a much larger ring and pinion but that's it. The reason you put a 60 under a Jeep is to gain the full strentgh of it.......much larger ring and pinion, shafts, u-joints, brakes and hubs.
Oh well not my money...good luck

And they open up the steering angles so you can decrease the steering radius of the JK. They are a huge improvement over a U Joint Design!
We understand this is not for everyone, but it is something we are looking into. Thank you to everyone for their input.
