a lot of comments about the rivets...

just wanted to point out that the rest of the Jeep is done already.
leaving them off of the top isnt really an option.

also, should I leave the top textured, or sand it smooth where I am going to paint it?

Sand it for sure...that way you have a gloossy look. I think your jeep is a sick creation my friend.
