Am I crazy to trade my 07' X for a 2010 Mountain edition?
I brought my JK in to the dealer for an oil change and there it was....a brand new 2-door Mountain edition in black. So I had to talk to a salesman to see how much. My Jeep is clean, only 19k miles, also black, with a few upgrades such as 17" Duratrac tires, cat-back black exhaust, CAI, touch-screen DVD, and a Superchip programmer. I owe about $5k for it. The dealer appraised my jeep and offered to give $17500. I have about 15 payments left at $400/mo. I can drive away with this new Mountain edition for $500/mo for 36 months. The sticker price is $29k. Here's the options...
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
Customer Preferred Package 23X $ 4,005
Black / Mineral Gray Front Bumper
Black / Mineral Gray Rear Bumper
Cloth Seats with Mountain Logo
Graphite Interior Vent Trim Rings
Mineral Gray Grille
Matte Black Hood Decal by Mopar
"Wrangler Mountain" Badge
17" x 7.5" Aluminum Painted Mineral Gray
Wheel
BF Goodrich Brand Tires
LT255/75R17 BSW Off-Road Tires
Wrangler Mountain Package
Air Conditioning
Black Fuel Filler Door by Mopar
Black Taillamp Guards by Mopar
Tubular Side Steps
Speed Control
Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
Power Convenience Group $ 585
Power Windows with Front One-Touch-
Down Feature
Power Locks
Remote Keyless Entry
Security Alarm
Supplemental Front Seat-Mounted Side
Airbags
$ 490
Trac-Lok Limited Slip Rear Differential $ 295
Deep Tint Sunscreen Windows $ 300
368W 7-Speaker Infinity Sound Sys Incl
Subwoofer
Media Center 230 6-CD/DVD/MP3 Radio $ 350
SIRIUS Satellite Radio $ 195
1-Year SIRIUS Radio Service
Black Freedom Top 3-Piece Hard Top $ 735
Freedom Panel Storage Bag
Delete Sunrider Soft Top
Freedom Top 3-Piece Modular Hard Top
Rear Window Wiper / Washer
Rear Window Defroster
Tinted Rear Quarter and Liftgate Windows
My jeep has the 17" alloy wheels, freedom top, Infinity 7-speaker system, A/C.
I'm looking for people to talk me into it OR talk me out of it. What do you think? I would be basically paying 17k for a new jeep with a few extra options, but trading in a 4-year old Wrangler X potentially paid off in 15 months. What would you do?

Considering that they are pretty much the same jeep... why not spend 8.5k (half of the value of trading in for the new one) on new mods and create an AMAZING vehicle?

Do what you want but think about this. If you owe about 5k on your current Jeep, why not pay it off in 10 months, then use about 500 dollars per month on upgrades and mods instead of gaining another 500 dollar note for 3 more years? Sure the mountain edition is nice, but I'd rather pay my note off and have plenty of money for all the mods I want to buy.

I say you should do it if you can get them to throw in some upgrade options... try to negotiate a soft top and half doors into the deal.... maybe a mopar front bumper... good luck man.. i have an '08 sahara that im constantly thinking about trading in for a '10.. i feel your pain.
