Default Alternative Engine Swaps

I know everyone here thinks engine swap = hemi. But what I'm curious about is why not save some money and drop in the powertech 4.7 v8 from the 02-04 WJ? It made 265hp / 330tq @ 3300rpm which I think is pretty respectable. Hell the generation after that got bumped to about 305hp / 330tq. I know that the WJ tranny pretty much sucks, but I'm just trying to think outside of the box and maybe not have to spend 20k on a HEMI swap. Anyone hear of the JK getting any other engine swap other than the HEMI or any reasons why not?

i think the biggest reason that everyone wants a hemi is that there are kits already available for it to go into a JK and with all the electrics/programming figured out.

I'm still waiting for someone to do a Ford EcoBoost swap kit, but I think it's going to be a while.

That's true, but I would love to see other options explored. After all is said and done, I'd like to see a cost difference between other engine swaps. Just sayin haha.

Size wise, and flame me if you must. But, the sexiest and one of the most tried and true engines I would swap to if possible would be the Audi 4.2 liter. Effing savage! Too bad it's transverse... If only.... If only... :-(

Where does the power come in with the Audi? That's kinda what got me started into looking into engines that have power way down low. I have a ZJ with the 5.2 in it that has a nice 230hp / 300tq in the low end. Hard to drive a JK on 35s after driving around my ZJ that will climb anything at idle.

Basic 4.2 is making torque at like 2800, hp at 3600 at 330 hp or the 345 hp option But, the RS4 4.2 is twin turbo or SC. ;-) making torque from 1800-5800... And hp is at 4400 or something like that. Pushing like 500+ hp. Lmao! :-)

You could do a couple diesel swaps. Of course there is the CRD as sold everywhere else but here and River Raiders offer a complete kit for the cummins 4bt engine swap.

I'd like to see a 360 Magnum swap, but I don't want to give up my 6 speed
