Allwine JK Build Thread
I suppose I will chronicle the progression of our family's JK.
We purchased the 2007 JK just after thanksgiving as a replacement for my last jeep; a 2000 XJ. Now that I have it, I'm wondering why I didn't buy one sooner!:victory:
It is a 2007 JK Sahara in Rock Red color with a tan hard top. It is currently wearing General Grabber AT2 rubber on stock 18" wheels.
Goal:
I would like to build a simple yet comprehensive vehicle that can support me, my wife and 3 1/2 yr old daughter for between a weekend and a week.
Modifications so far:
Daystar Hood Wranglers
IPF E-code headlights with Silverstar Ultra H4 bulbs
Rugged Ridge XHD front bumper (modified to hold Hella Micro DE driving lights)
Grab Handles
Parts waiting for installation:
GOBI Ranger roof rack (On order from Alpha Expedition)
Cooltech Antenna kit (On order)
Cooltech tailgate strut (On order)
4 Hella 500FF for roof rack (Purchased)
Door sill protectors (Ordered)
cobra 75 WXST (Ordered)
Wish List:
Whytner 43Qt fridge
Mile Marker winch
LoD gen 2 rear bumper and carrier
Rotopax fuel and water tanks
2.5" Terraflex Lift
33" Goodyear Duratrac tires
Shrockworks rock sliders
LED rock lights
ARB recovery kit
Water Filtration
Shower kit
Comprehensive Adventure Medical kit
Steering stabilizer relocation kit
ARB onboard air kit / engine mount bracket
Ideas to add:
Seat covers w/pockets
12V outlet in back seat
Parts Going to be ordered before the end of Feb:
M-PAC tailgate with STAT bags from Spring Tail Solutions
Here is a picture of how it currently looks (Feb 2010):
Would love to hear input on anything I have (or don't have) listed.:coffeedrink:

Camping Rig!
I like the list you have built up. I am thinking about going that route myself. I just have a 2 dr but there is only 2 of us and 2 puppies right now. Hopefully there is enough room for all we need! Keep it up, I might be stealing some of your ideas

I'll be keeping an eye on your thread man, and for your rig at PC, next time I am out. Ha! I like the sound of the build. I love the Gobi rack, but I love going completely topless too much to have an over the top rack...
Did you decide to go to RC for the EJS meet in early April? At least for a day?
My locked and geared axles are arriving Monday, installed Wednesday. 35" BFG MTs also arriving Monday... Hope to see you around!

tailgate...
You will potentially need to put some strategy into the placement and installation of your MPAC tailgate rack, so that you can still accommodate the Cooltech tailgate strut.
Just a heads up before you get the MPAC all installed like you want it and find out there's not enough room up top to attach the strut. I learned this the hard way.
Good luck with your build man, it's going to be awesome!

We are still planning on attending the Pine Barrens run with the ExPo group this summer.
