7 Passenger JK (Pics)
Just bought my JK last week and I just had a 3rd row seat installed on Friday. It was one of the mods I had envisioned prior to the purchase of the JK. Got a lot of looks on saturday, mainly from folks wondering what type of Jeep it was. Looking forward to getting getting response from all the JK afficianados. This is my first Jeep so bear with me if I seem excited.
Here it is getting ready to into surgery! These guys at Maui Off Road are the Bomb (as my kids would say )

This is what it looks like from the outside

Originally wanted it to face backwards but there just wasn't enough room due to the angles of the seat.

So had it face forward. Turned out to be the best bet!

It folds down

Tumbles forward allowing room for "stuff"

Best of all, safety was always in mind

Now can't wait for it grow just a bit

Access is gained through the rear door when the seat is folded down. Driver side rear allows only 40% of bench to fold which makes it an easier access due to the car seat. My boys find it fun to just jump in through the back when the top is off . Can't wait to see how much fun they are gonna have trying to jump up when its lifted
I compare the room to that of the 3rd row seat of my expedition. An average adult can sit back there off course if comfort is not an issue. Otherwise it serves a great purpose for my kids.
As far as a rear impact I have given that some serious consideration. First off they seat belts are secured on the body. The seat is bolted down on the solid part of the body and frame. I am looking at different ways to reinforce it even more.
Second, it will be lifted in a week or so therefore any rear impact would just mean that a car would end up under the Jeep I am also adding some steel rear bumper with an oversize tire carrier, which I hope would lessen any rear impacts.

that is the best mod on this site to date! I know that sounds bias but i wish i wouldve bought a 4 door instead of the door, and that idea of the seat just gives me goosebumps.....can you imagine showing up at a Jeep Jamboree with 7 people in your ride! how much did it cost?

That's a nice mod! I'd concider something like that if it could be safe and still be removable. There's times where carrying more people would be great, and times when I just need that long flat "bed" to carry larger objects.
