how much do you think a shop would charge for that kind of an install

Honestly wouldn't be worth it. If you are thinking of taking it to a shop I'd sell and buy a 4x4. If you are mechanically inclined at all it really isn't a big job. Everything bolts into place since Jeep was nice enough to build the 2wd on the 4wd platform.

Where are you located?

Memphis Tennessee and I honestly have no mechanical experience at all so idk if i could do it

It really isn't a hard conversion but I would guess that you will be $4,000.00 - $6,000.00 out of pocket if you pay a shop. At that point you might as well go crazy and drop an Atlas T case and Dana 60's. I'd help but Tn is along say from Sanford FL

Maybe you can find a jeep club or some forum members in your area. Beer and pizza can go a long way.

Is there a good step by step write up out there to follow? Just curious. I'm gonna start saving up to buy the parts to do mine.

One of the 4wd magazines had one when I was doing mine. It wasn't great but better than nothing. I'll look tonight and see if I can't find it again.
