The whole "CHROME DONT GET YA HOME" saying is so dumb. Any chromed part is going to be just as strong and reliable.

If you have the money go with 20s. They will look awesome. I wanted to run 20s but just couldnt afford them. My 17" wheels and 37" tires were right at $3200 for all FIVE with sensors. I cant even imagine what 20s would have been.

Take into account weight like I said earlier. When I was looking at them, a 20" wheel and tire weighed 15-20 lbs extra each. That is a lot of extra weight to turn and stop. Your gas milage will really decrease and so will your power. Look on tirerack.com for weights of tires and wheels. A lot of offroad guys like to run 15" wheels because they are cheap but also because they are a lot lighter.

FYI.

15" wheel~18 lb
17" wheel~23 lb
20" wheel~35 lb

37x12.50x15~58 lb
37x12.50x17~69 lb
37x12.50x20~73 lb

total
15~76 lb
17~92 lb
20~108 lb

Lightbulb OK

OK then, I should have said Bling Bling chrome does not, in any way, out perform a equal product that is not chromed....hence the dumb but VERY true saying ''Chrome don't get ya home".......... that extra grand you plunked down for DUmBS could have bought a set of new drive shafts, manual front hub conversion or a decent winch, which WOULD get you home.

It is a free country and I feel good when people do, and speak, what they want.

I think it is revelant that this IS a Jeep we are talking about here NOT a 2wd Caddy EZZcalde....and in certain high tolerance press fit applications a chromed part will have a MUCH higher failure ratio than a un chromed part ask any machinist.

And you made another very good point about un-sprung weight and DUmBS.
You WILL pass a lot more gas stations with a smaller wheel.

So when we see you with a blown bead on the trail cause your DUmB cracked from tapping a rock, don't say we did not tell you that you could have put your funds to better use.

I never understood why a tire with the same width and height for a 15" wheel is lighter than one for a 17" wheel since there is LESS rubber? I just assume that it has to do with the belting and all???

It may not get you home but chrome looks way better....Yea I think its really dumb saying too...what are you doing anyway, dropping your jeep out of the space shuttle?? Ive been running chrome wheels for 25 years and wouldnt buy anything else.

I thought hard about the 18s on the 35s at first, thought the 17 was the better size, but I like a little less rubber than the old school days, so Im very happy w/ the 18 now, too big though for a 33. I think regardless the tire size the 20 is overstated on the jk and I wouldnt go that big, stay 18 on the 37, it looks waayyy better...people wont point and laugh, they will look and say man, that looks good...

The overall diameter of a tire looks bigger the smaller the wheel is.
