Default 18" vs 17" Duratracs. Which is bigger?

I want duratracs (snow rated) and was originally going to go with the 315/70/17 on stockers (with spacers) but the more i read the more I hear about them running closer to a 33" tire than a 35 . I have seen a couple of people on here with the 325/65/18 and from the very few that have reported they seem to run very close to a true 35 (34.7 from one). I was hoping to get some real world measurements from people and their thoughts. 18's would require new rims which is bad because it adds to the cost but I am also not 100% thrilled by running spacers for the 17's. I am concerned I am making too big of deal out of this but I would hate to get the jeep a lift (2.5") and flat fenders (psc crusher) and have the tires look wrong.

Any pictures/thoughts/real world measurements is very much appreciated

please give rim specifics when reporting tire height

Thanks for the help!

The difference in the 2 is actually only 0.200" (overall diameter). I would go with the cheaper cost, but that's just me. So, what are the cost differences? I would guess the 17 would be cheaper?

I understand they measure very very close as far as the theoretical goes. If the 17's ran as they are supposed to I would get the cheaper 17's. My problem is that the 17's appear to not run even close to the measurement so I am curious if the 18" run bigger.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I can say that the Duratrac 315/70-17's on my stock wheels measure 34" tall on the JKU.

LT285/75R17 These are 33.8 if I remember right. 2" pucks. They are a tall skinny tire, but functional for my needs. I know the caparison is not quite the same. I think your proposed setup would be fine either way.
