yes they do... but supposedly from what i was told by a friend you are supposed to take the soft top out per the manual before installing the hard top... I don't know. But either way, it comes that way so it can't be mandatory...

The soft top does come inside with the dual option. There has been a lot of discussion in the past about whether it is bad not to take it out - really a non-issue in the end (I think)... it was my (lame) attempt at sarcasm that clearly fell flat....

Since there are injuries it would probably be a good idea to consult a lawyer if for no other reason to make sure your rights are protected -- you can bet that the insurance companies won't. Talk to 07JKX.

From the 2007 Manual on Page 118, and for the 2008 Models on page 114:
"DUAL TOP — IF EQUIPPED
If your vehicle is equipped with a Dual Top, you must
remove one of the tops from the vehicle. If the soft top
is removed, the pivot brackets must also be removed
from the sport bar. The soft top was installed at the
factory for shipping purposes only. The soft top and the
hard top are to be used independently. Removal is
mandatory to prevent any possible wear and tear on the
soft top. Your vehicle warranty will not cover damage
resulting from both tops remaining on the vehicle at the
same time for extended periods of time."

Hey redrock, this thread completely slipped by me, really glad to hear you are all ok. Incredible how stupid some people can be.
It had to be a terrible shock! I have an old friend who had this happen to him years ago. A guy hit him so hard it knocked him off the freeway, broke his three year old's arm and beat everybody up pretty bad. Luckily everybody healed well, wishing the same for your group.

Thank the Lord everyone is okay. I echo the sentiments from above: you can ALWAYS get a new Wrangler...but there is only ONE RedRock...unless of course there exists a parallel reality with ANOTHER RedRock...in which case: ask HIM to borrow his JK that DIDN'T get banged up in an accident.
