Anyone have the Toyo Open Country M/T tires and a 1" or 1.75" or 2" Lift?

I have the 35 Toyo's and can honestly say they are the best all around MT I have ever owned. They are heavy but goes with the solid longevity of the harder compound which yields longer life, etc. I have the 6.1 Hemi compliments of Screamin Lizard so the weight is not a concern.

I like the 285/75 17s, but the 70 pounds makes me think gas mileage and highway power will go down the toilet - especially with 3.73s. I'd imagine the narrow aspect of this size would offer less rolling resistance, but does the weight take away the advantage?

When I was looking for tires I looked at the weight also. We are running a minivan motor dont ya know. Anyway, the KM2 37x12.5x17 was 20 lbs lighter EACH than the Toyo of the same size. 80 lbs total rolling resistance is a lot. IMO. Check out TIRE RACK.COM. They have weights of tires listed.

I have the 37's on 17" and have not regeared. I have no problems. I am returning my jeep to stock though because I am driving 45 miles to work and back and hate to waste mud tires on the highway.

1 lb of rolling resistance = 7lbs of deadweight .... so having 80 lbs of rolling resistance is like having a 560lb person sitting inside your Jeep at all times....this is not even factoring in the friction of the wider tires.

Sorry I used to have a sports car so we did all these calculations and tried to find the lightest wheels possible... I remember the wheels on my car were 14lbs... (16")

That's actually good to know! I love my Toyos though, would be hard to go to another tire now. My JK isn't a daily commuter though....thank GOD!
