Default Trail Tools?

I'm just wondering if there is a comprehensive list somewhere of must have tools to have while out wheeling.
I'm looking for specific examples. Most common wrench and socket sizes etc. a detailed list would be great.
As well as things you can't live without and tips on other must haves that you've picked up along the way.
I find myself filling a tool bag with items from my tool chest and I'm not sure if I'm carrying the right items to get me out of some of the most common jams.
Any help would be appreciated.

I started with something like this...
Craftsman 154 Piece Mechanics Tool Set: Get the Job Done with Sears

And I've added as I've seen necessary. I do agree with the Torx recommendation, and a set of ratcheting wrenches. Also I invested in some wrenches that are larger size, which most tool kits won't come with. Most tool kits seem to stop at 19mm or 7/8s

Oh and Gorilla Tape.

I take a lot of tools on the trail with me. At least that's what I'm told.

It's basically a craftsman mechanics kit, 3 bags and two craftsman wrench kits. I also take a large bin with every fluid the Jeep would need, a small bin for electric and other misc stuff and my ARB recovery bag will all my straps, shackles, etc. All that takes up about 75% of the trunk area in my unlimted. Plenty of room left for clothes, food etc.

I bring out a box with two wrenches for everything under the frame. 2- 12" crescents, bottle jack, lug wrench, fluids for everything, lots of zip ties, gorilla tape, hose clamps, cotter pins, wd40, lynch pins, 8lb sledge and anything else I can fit in a larger action packer box.

I also bring an extra tierod and ujoints.

I know it seems like a lot. But it's really not that much. It probably seems silly but every thing I've every done to my Jeep (and I've done everything except weld and gear install) has been done with the tools listed. I don't work on my Jeep with a tool unless it goes in one of those kits/bags/bins. It's peace of mind more than anything. I know I have everything I might need if something were to happen to me on the trail.

Feel free to trim the list as you see fit.

I play by your rules, so it's all good. A nice sledge works better than some rock! And the same for any other tool as supposed to "mother natures tools".

If you got the coin, a nice impact wrench with on-board air/compressor can serve a lot of purposes.

I do take my Dewalt 1/2" 18v impact wrench. It's on the list toward the bottom under Misc Tools. When you compare the cost and spaced needed for an air system to match the capability I chose a battery operated Dewalt. For onboard air I have an ARB unit mounted under the hood.

All the above is good for going out alone (you should always take a buddy with another Jeep)or far from home. For close trails I pack light and focus on Recovery items. A few items I always carry are

D rings
Snatch Block
Tree saver
Tow rope
Basic set of tools (Sockets, Cressent,5lb Sledge, ect)
Small Axe and Shovel
Gloves and knee pads (small rocks suck to kneel on)
Air Gauge
Flashlight
Sharp knife
A winch is also handy

I pack all these in a bag (except winch) for easy grab and go availiblity
