Good chains are extremely strong but extremely heavy and bulky. Also they can't really be used to yank unless you don't care about your vehicle at all.

Not a dumb question at all. Chains are best suited for static loads. In a dynamic recovery situation where you are snatching a vehicle a chain or cable will carry energy. If it were to break under load you will have a heavy metal projectile capable of inflicting great damage to vehicles and flesh.

all pulls with this rope are so much smoother than my snatch strap. I was expecting the same violent yank as my snatch strap that's why I was going easy on the gas the first couple of tugs
