Rear bumpers & tire carriers
#22
I've seen and examined the Shrockworks rear bumper, and have Shrockworks rock sliders. Very strong, very good welds and finish. Metal Cloak make great stuff, but I wouldn't get their rear bumper, because the carrier sticks out. It's too exposed, and may get hit when, for instance, getting off a rock step. I have the Bestop HighRock rear bumper & tire carrier -- the tire carrier swings with the rear gate. The whole front of car of the lady who reared me was crumpled, zero damage to the Bestop bumper. Much better than its price suggests.

I was wrestling with this decision, and decided on the Bestop bumper because 1) it was the cheapest option and my money tree died, and 2) I can't find anything bad about it.
Just installed it yesterday - took about 4 hours.
I've read the stories of bumpers arriving half-falling out of boxes, scratched up, etc. Well, Bestop should teach some packaging classes. I was thoroughly impressed with how well it was packaged.
I've read the horror stories of having to drill new mounts on brand new bumpers to get them to fit, mismatched holes, etc. Nothing of the sort with this bumper. It seriously was easier than I expected.

They used to ship it with their unique twist - a roller that rolls the rear of the Jeep off steps - do they still include it with the bumper ?
